Progressing in the Word

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
We are living in crazy days as we have not seen before in our lifetime. But the Word of God is still our lighthouse, our clear direction that gives light to our path that we do not stumble over the things the enemy is setting before us.
2 Timothy 3:13-14 (NASB77) “But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them.”
In those days’ heresies were increasing. They were wanting the church to be a voice for their heresies saying that the church needed to be relevant to their beliefs and also said the church was against everything. (Wasn’t just idol worship and sin) Paul is telling Timothy to stand firm and not move toward the thought of the day.
Society is now claiming to be progressive in its thought, that it is always evolving. The Word of God never evolves. It has been and always will be perfect and complete. It is relevant to every day, time, and era!! Timothy was to remove leaders from the church that would side in with the heresies of the day.
2 Timothy 1:13 (NASB77) “Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.”
The word Standard is defined as the form, pattern, and example. Clarke Commentary says: “No man was left to invent a religion for his own use, and after his own mind. God alone knows that with which God can be pleased. If God did not give a revelation of himself, the inventions of man, in religious things, would be endless error, involving itself in contortions of unlimited confusion. God gives, in his mercy to man, a form of sound words or doctrines; a perfect plan and sketch of the original building; fair and well-defined outlines of everything which concerns the present and eternal welfare of man, and also His own glory.”
Sound words are a sketch, a pattern, a concise representation from God. They are Words that paint a picture. We are to pattern our life after the pattern of the Sound Words of Scripture.
It is time for the church to be the church and move back to the absolute truth and soundness of the Word of God for it, and it alone is the power of God for salvation: healing, deliverance, protection, soundness, and preservation! (Romans 1.16)
“The Word of God is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart- that is, the Word of Faith which we are preaching.” (Romans 10.8)
