2 Timothy 1.7 God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love and a sound mind.

Timidity is the Greek word deilia defined as being fearful or cowardice. This is crucial. Fear can get a grip on our mind and produces cowardice in us. Unchecked we will become afraid of everything and everyone. This will give fear access to control our life. 

An informal survey was taken in churches of what people fear. Some of the responses included: divorce, cancer, aids, suicide, insanity, heights, murder, robbers, attacks, financial failure, demons and so on. In the leadership areas some of their fears included: rejection, failure, financial lack, betrayal, being left behind by their peers, some even feared success. It is fear that robs us of a sound, disciplined mind!  It is imperative to have a sound mind if we are going to stand strong in the battles of life. 

God is looking for resolute, committed believers who know their place of victory in Christ, those that will challenge the devil, storm the gates of hell, and remain faithful until the job is complete. He is looking for spiritual warriors to step forward to enlist in His army and fearlessly look the enemy in the eye and do battle. These warriors know that risks are certain, but the risks are far outweighed by great rewards, and understand the far-reaching consequences of choosing not to fight. Will you be that warrior?
